MISSION


On the last year of High School students are faced are with a choice of extreme importance: “Should I go to University? If so, what should I study? And where?”

NESISCTE's Pedagogical Department of Secondary Education seeks to help High School students in answering these questions by doing dynamic presentations in the schools that give them a different perspective on Sociology. Namely by making them reflect on matters such as: "What is Sociology?", "Where the Sociology graduates that are not researchers or professors?", And "How to turn a social issue into a sociological issue?"

This noble mission is a gratifying and inspiring opportunity to give High School Students a Sociological look of the World.

This Department also intends to bring High School classes to ISCTE, by making a new dynamic session and giving a tour of campus. So that High School students can see up close the university where they might study and experience the bachelor’s degree they might take some time in the future.

NESISCTE's Design and Merchandising Department has as its mission guaranteeing that our posters (or any other type of promotional material) have an appealing and captivating design. This department is also in charge of the design of this website, while the Communication Department oversees the more technical aspects of its maintenance. Furthermore, the Design and Merchandising Department is also in charge of creating and designing Sociology Hoodies, as well as any other material that uses the NESISCTE brand.

MISSION


Being a Sociologist implies having a deeper understanding of society, knowing the social and environmental issues that surround it. NESISCTE wants, through its Social Responsibility Department, to provide answers to the social challenges of change, supporting communities with needs, giving a friendly hand that can make the difference to the neediest. NESISCTE defends the need to intervene! To do so, an aware look at the social world is necessary. Our Nucleus commits itself to transmit responsible values that, through campaigns of awareness of volunteer work, call for the fight for equality. As an active voice in the representation of students it also our duty to promote their personal development. Helping the supportive part within all of us, providing aid to the students' growth, and giving them all the tools so that they can be one step close in becoming active citizens. In search of a farther reach in defense of social solidarity in our institution, NESISCTE intends to establish partnerships with other Student Nucleus and non-profit organizations, cooperating in favour of a greater good.
